It’s been a little while, but Grace and Seed is back and I’m so excited to share what’s been happening. For those who knew, Grace and Seed was a venture with my wonderful friend, but as she embarks on a new adventure 🇺🇸 I’m now steering this ship solo! It’s a new chapter, and I’m so looking forward to connecting with you all.

Speaking of new chapters, I had the most wonderful time at the Summer Fayre this past weekend! It was such a joy to connect with many of you and share the heart behind Grace and Seed. While I didn’t get any photos (oops!), the love was incredible and it truly lit a fire under me to get back to sharing more here.

Old Fashioned Homemaker Tip #6: Keep a well stocked pantry.

It’s so obvious, yet many people do not keep food beyond the weekly food shop in the house!

I keep enough food in my pantry so that if I miss a few days of food shopping (sickness, busy etc…) we always have food available to make a few meals. We also utilise our freezer which is great too, but it’s good to have another food stock (that isn’t electricity dependant.)

Foods I always have in my pantry: rice, flour, canned peaches, extras of the condiments we use (whole grain mustard, djon, ketchup, mayo etc..), various canned vegetables, sugar, potatoes, sweet potatoes, quinoa, coconut sugar, dried beans, dried lentils, canned chickpeas, cocoa powder, chocolate chips, canned beans, canned tuna, and canned chicken.

Follow along for more Old Fashioned homemaker tips! 🤎 I was reading Little House on the Prarie to the children the other day, and Laura and Mary help Ma with chores so much. Having children help with age appropriate chores helps them to learn to feel a sense of accomplishment after hard work, and they just love getting involved! There are so many simple things a 2 year old can even do: pulling the clean washing out of the laundry machine, putting dirty clothes in the basket, throwing things in the bin, matching silverware in the drawer, the list is endless! 😊

It’s time to harvest elderberries in my neck of the woods (we are based in England). I’ve already noticed a lot of elderberries starting to go dry! Go harvest yours this weekend to make elderberry syrup. It’s a is great preventative for winter coughs, colds, and flus. I’m in the season of getting things done in little 10 minute bursts. Of being okay with not achieving everything I hope to all of the time. Of not giving up if things don’t quite go to plan.

I might have missed the main growing season this year but it’s not too late to get some other things in the ground. Letting go of perfectionism. Who’s with me? 🙌🏻

Don’t have a milk frother like this? You can use a hand frother instead. If you don’t have a frother at all don’t worry, just dissolve the macha in a little hot water first then add the other ingredients and mix! 👌🏼

*Iced Macha Latte Recipe*

Add about 1-1.5 cups (or enough to fill glass of choice) of milk to a milk frother, add an overfilled teaspoon of pure macha powder, add sweeter of choice (I’d recommend maple syrup or agave nectar). Mix on cold froth setting, add to a glass of ice, and enjoy! ☺️

Note: If using a milk frother make sure to add your milk first otherwise the macha will stick to the bottom.

Don’t have a milk frother like this? You can use a hand frother instead. If you don’t have a frother at all don’t worry, just dissolve the macha in a little hot water first then add the other ingredients and mix! 👌🏼

*Iced Macha Latte Recipe*

Add about 1-1.5 cups (or enough to fill glass of choice) of milk to a milk frother, add an overfilled teaspoon of pure macha powder, add sweeter of choice (I’d recommend maple syrup or agave nectar). Mix on cold froth setting, add to a glass of ice, and enjoy! ☺️

Note: If using a milk frother make sure to add your milk first otherwise the macha will stick to the bottom.

Doing the dishes, folding laundry, switching out the new season of clothing, washing dirty faces and hands, making meals, sweeping the floor, picking up the toys, cleaning the toilets, loading the babies in and out of the car, shopping, wiping tears away, baking bread, putting the food away, kissing a sore better, teaching the alphabet, reading books, etc…

Once upon a time I fell victim to the constant need to be busy. The need to be distracted. The fear of missing out. Always moving from one project to another as soon as I felt bored or, even worse, that something else was more important.

I realised that the busier I was, the more distracted I became, the further away from prayer and peace I felt. And as a homemaker, a wife and mother, this had a knock on effect on my family.

In this season, I’m focusing on becoming unbusy. On finishing the projects, slowly but precisely. On bringing my attention to the important things. On prayer and peace.

Doesn’t seem like such a bad thing in this crazy world.
